Lots of excuses & a recipe
Well, so I’ve been absent from this blog for quite a long time. I do have quite a long list of excuses why, but I won’t bore you with that. Let me just mention that “master thesis” is one of them…
Sewing has taken a break for the moment. I do however have one of my planned projects almost finished. Yes, the McCall M5880 dress.
It just doesn’t fit right at the moment so I’ll have to take it apart again and take it in under the arms.
The next post will contain a recipe I just love for its easiness and deliciousness. Mini chocolate cakes with a liquid filling! Mmmhh….
Hobo Bag
Finally, it’s done! I finished my hobo bag (tutorial by jcaroline creative!) =)
With all the Christmas crafting to be done I had to put it aside for a while but some days ago I had a few hours to sew and quickly finished the bag.
P.S.: The next project is already chosen: The Hip Mama Diaper Bag by A Mingled Yarn. I’ll use it as a normal messenger bag though – no diapers to carry around for me 😉
Fabric Shopping Bag
Another one of my projects completed:
I finished one more shopping bag. The last ones I all gave away as presents to friends and family. This one I am actually going to keep =)
P.S.: Fabric by Ikea. Tutorial used for the shopping bag by Pleasant View Shoolhouse.
Reversible tote bag
Another project I took on, following a tutorial on Craftster: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=91070.0
The tutorial is by gloriana and her blog can be reached at this address: http://amingledyarn.wordpress.com/
It’s a reversible tote bag =)
I found the tutorial to be very helpful and detailled – exactely what you need when you’re just getting started with sewing.
Here’s my result:
Edit: You might have already guessed it – I used fabrics by Ikea… 😉
Sewing Bag
Another tutorial I found online:
http://mackvilleroad.blogspot.com/2008/04/sewing-bag-tutorial.html
It’s from Mackville Road and explains step by step how to create a sewing bag.
I used it to create my own little sewing bag (again using a piece of my beloved Ikea fabric 😉 ).
Here it is:
Wall organizer

On the weekend I made a wall organizer following this tutorial by Crafty Beats: http://ccat.wordpress.com/2007/08/06/quick-pockets/
A nice project that’s surely going to be of great use. I used two types of fabric from Ikea 😉
A patterned blue one and a yellow one for the lining. (The original tutorial doesn’t use a lining but I chose to do one as it made the whole thing look a lot nicer. I also didn’t use a carton to stabilize it as it didn’t seem to be necesary.)
The second project

A nice little pincushion. Everyone needs one.. 😉
I used a piece of felt scrap that was donated to me by a friend as well as a circular piece of fabric from the top of a glass of marmalade (well, you get creative if you don’t yet have any fabric yourself..).
The tutorial used for completing this project comes from The Purl Bee:

The result of my hard work (it wasn’t that hard really but I am proud nonetheless):
