Another birthday present! No tutorial for this one. I just selected the fabric and got started!

The solid brown fabric is from a whole stash of cotton fabrics I bought over at eBay, the patterned ones are from Amy Butler’s Daisy Chain line.
In between the two fabric layers there is a nice batting.

I made this little pouch as a present and it really was a great opportunity to use up some of the fabric scraps that seemingly keep on multiplying every week.

I followed this great tutorial and only had to use my seam ripper once during the process

It’s such a cutie and I will definitely make a few more should I somehow find the time for it…

I made this cute little coin purse as a birthday present. It was my first time using a flex frame and I used a tutorial from U-handblog for it.

Both the exterior and interior fabric are by Michael Miller from his Far Out Floral line, purchased at the Centro Comercial Principe Pio in Madrid.

I also used a nice fusible fleece inbetween the two fabric layers.

All in all a very nice and not too difficult little project! I immediately made a second one… =)

Whilst living abroad I of course purchased some clothes in the local shops. One of my all time favourites is the green top shown below.
It is made out of 100% viscose and features very nice braiding details.

Sadly it has suffered quite a bit over time and should now not be worn outside my home (courtesy of a few small holes that can no longer be concealed). So I decided to try and recreate it.
Given my missing experience in sewing clothes it was quite an adventure…
I traced the outline of the original shirt onto paper and cut my fabric accordingly (I used cheap jersey rib fabric for this first try – the nice viscose one had to wait for the second try). I also braided three quite long strips of fabric, as the braid on the shirt is one continuous piece. I added a bit of lighter fabric for some contrast.

So, here is the finished product! And it fits! I had to tweak the armholes quite a bit though…

So, here it is. The bag I received from Katherine as part of the recent bag swap. Isn’t it lovely?

And Katherine even generously included a sewing pattern! It’s Amy Butler’s Field Bag & Tote. I had been eyeing this pattern for quite some time and am really looking forward to making one of those bags!

While I can’t yet show you the bag I made for the occasion (I’ll have to wait until my swap partner receives it) I can tell you: I received my bag!

I’ve been quite busy recently, with uni starting again for the winter semester and my master thesis taking shape. So, long time no see…

One of the crafty things I finished recently was a men’s shirt refashion. I took a XL sized shirt from the thrift store (half price sale) and remodeled it to a nice blouse for myself.

As this was my first time sewing some clothes for myself (even if I was only refashioning something) I was quite apprehensive. But I think it worked out quite well.

I used one of my favourite blouses as a model and used it as the basic shape. I also made a belt from the shirt’s sleeves.

What do you think?

A couple of days ago I added a new page to this blog – Tutorials.

I’ll be compiling a list of great free tutorials that can be found on the Internet. Hopefully some of you will get inspired by the compiled projects!

Another Wasp Bag =)

Anybody getting bored yet?

This time it was for my aunt’s birthday, using one of my favourite fabrics ever (the purple one). I bought it on a trip to Stockholm, at my favourite ever fabric store, Ohlssons. I don’t know anything about the producer or its name but love its vibrant color.

And finally, the bag:

As before, I also made a frayed fabric flower to go with the bag. =)

A change I made with regards to the original tutorial was to once again ditch the proposed pocket (which I couldn’t get my head around) and add a zippered pocket instead.
