Birdie Sling

Finally, it’s done! After laying it aside for a few weeks, then missing some thread, then not being motivated etc. I finally finished my Birdie Sling bag (of course made from a pattern by Amy Butler). Wow, even after reading a lot of reviews and comments about this pattern, I still have to say: this is a BIG bag!

But perfect for carrying around groceries as I found out today when taking it with me to the supermarket. Very sturdy, even though I left out the interfacing and only used the fusible fleece (I was already using heavy home dec fabric from Ikea and I didn’t want it to get too stiff).

I am only a little sad that I forgot to put in a magnetic snap (it’s not in the pattern, but I usually do it for all my bags). But I think that was part of my wanting to get done with the bag.

Oh, one more comment: when sewing the exterior/interior panels to the bands, it didn’t quite fit and I had to put in small additional pleats on the panels.

Not a bag I will use on a day-to-day basis but probably when I know I’ll have to carry around a lot of stuff.

Back from London and Guernsey

I spent my Easter holidays on the beautiful island of Guernsey, Channel Islands and also in London. It was a great trip and over far too quickly.

Now it’s time to prepare once again for university and work. But the summer holidays aren’t too far away, aren’t they? ;-)

I am already starting to plan a trip with friends to Ireland… =)

But first a few pics from my trip.

Wasp Bag

Finally I got to make the wasp bag I had wanted to do for quite some time now. Such a great pattern! As usual, most of the time was spent cutting out all the pieces ;-)

And I love the result! I already wore it out on town once and felt great with it. The fabric I used is some of the fabric I bought in Stockholm (it’s Sanderson’s Kasuri fabric in aubergine) and some plain fabric from Ikea’s scrap basket.

Oh, and you can find the instructions for the bag here.

Easter Eggs

Wow, I have been missing in action for quite some time now, haven’t I? Well, university and work got the better of me.

But now the easter holidays have started I got my sewing back on track (at least until I leave the country tomorrow for a nice trip abroad).

First of all I made a few fabric easter eggs following a tutorial on retro mama. Aren’t they nice? And so easy to make! =)
